The Texas Department of Public Safety said its Criminal Investigations Division identified and rescued six adult women while executing search warrants at three suspected illicit massage businesses in Bexar County on October 22.
The operation took place in the Live Oak and Universal City areas, according to an October 23 agency release. The women ranged in age from their late 30s to their 50s. DPS reported no arrests at the time of that announcement.
Investigators said the businesses showed indicators consistent with human trafficking and were suspected of unlawful activity. The release did not name suspects, identify the women or provide a court finding. The allegations and the status of the searches should not be treated as a conviction.
DPS described its approach as focused on victims’ identification, recovery, safety and stabilization alongside investigation and prosecution. It said identified victims can be connected with services intended to prevent further victimization.
The agency asked people with information about the Bexar County businesses or potential trafficking elsewhere in Texas to contact authorities. Its announcement directs people to call 911 for an immediate report and provide as much detail as possible.
Other reporting routes listed by DPS are iWatchTexas and the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888, with a text option of BeFree to 233733. The October 23 release said the investigation was continuing and provided no further case details.
